Something for my feminist theory class.

I’d love to see the reactions to this from a crowd. I can kind of imagine a quiet, solemn understanding from the ladies and a lot of confused questions from the guys… If my memory of art school serves me.

In 9th grade English we read Laurie Halse Anderson’s “Speak”. For those of you who haven’t read it, the author makes it abundantly clear that the teenage protagonist, Melinda, was raped, before the protagonist actually says it.
Our English teacher asked the boys in the class what happened to Mel. They came up with the most ridiculous answers. Every girl in the class just knew.

This just goes to show…
Not all men menace women, but yes all women have felt menaced by a man.
Every girl understands this because every girl knows the fear implicit in this image.

Malcolm X at a meeting in Paris, November 23, 1964

  • White interviewer: If it was our white ancestors who bought you and enslaved you, we are their children. We are the new generation. Why don't you call us your brothers?
  • Malcolm X: A man has to act like a brother before you can call him a brother. You made a very good point, really, that needs some clarification. If you are the son of the man who had a wealthy estate and you inherit your father's estate, you have to pay off the debts that your father incurred before he died. The only reason that the present generation of white Americans are in the position of economic strength that they are is because their fathers worked our fathers for over 400 years with no pay. For over 400 years we worked for nothing. We were sold from plantation to plantation like you sell a horse, or a cow, or a chicken, or a bushel of wheat. It was your fathers who did it to our fathers, and all of that money that piled up from the sale of my mother and my grandmother and my great-grandmother is what gives the present generation of American whites [the ability] to walk around the earth with their chest out; you know, like they have some kind of economic ingenuity. Your father isn't here to pay his debts. My father isn't here to collect. But I'm here to collect and you're here to pay.

they saved her life

Y’all don’t understand what this scene means to me. This Christian girl wearing the flower crown and the white bedsheet was going to murder Piper for not kowtowing to her homophobic bullshit. Like, Piper is out here about to get shanked when the inmate counselor is within ear shot and can see what’s about to go down. Piper calls out for help, and the counselor turns his back and leaves, knowing full well that Piper might die. This is what a lot of Pacifists don’t understand: you can not react in a non-violent manner to someone who is trying to kill you. You have to be able to use the appropriate amount of force to disarm them, and thanks to these fantastic women of color, Piper didn’t die. This scene was everything.

Hey Tumblr, you helped make The Reward - Tales of Alerhtrion a possibility; now here’s your chance to a be a part of it!
On behalf of Sun Creature Studio I’m pleased to announce a Concept Art Summer Event! Get your artwork into The Reward - Tales of Alethrion - Presented by Sun Creature Studio.
Do you remember the close up portraits in the short film The Reward (bottom two images above)? We have a silly shot like this of Alethrion in the series as well. In this scene he is trying to seduce Amerath, a girl whom he just met.

We have a downloadable PSD file with everything you need to work on the shot.

In the file we have the correct frame size, a blurred out picture of the color script (the base colors you need to use because of the fact that the portrait has to fit with the other scenes). We have blurred the color script picture out so you don’t limit your imagination. We also attached references of the style and the storyboard panel.

If you are up for the challenge, send your finished drawing to Suncreaturestudio@gmail.com.The most fitting, best and most hilarious portrait of Alethrion gets into the film!

DEADLINE IS THE 27th OF JULY! FEEL FREE TO SHARE THE CHALLENGE!

Here you can get access to the .pdf file here.

PS. If you choose not to work in photoshop then it is important to use the file size 2400 X 1000 pixels. We also attached a layout you can use as a template.

If you have any questions please send them to the team at Suncreaturestudio@gmail.com.

So there’s this girl who was in my class this week. 8 years old, named Bella. Yesterday she was absent, and this was because she was visiting her father on set. Because her father is Mark Ruffalo.

image

Oh yes.

image

I spent a week supervising Mark Ruffalo’s daughter and didn’t know until the last day of class.

image

Yes.

Imagine if mark Ruffalo saw this on tumblr…

What do you mean ‘imagine’? He probably already did
